End Sewage Dumping in Wales
Raw sewage was dumped into Welsh rivers, lakes and seas more than 100,000 times last year for almost 900,000 hours. This sewage is killing wildlife and poses a danger to public health.
Yet the bosses of Welsh Water were awarded bonuses of £931,000 in the same period, despite Welsh Water being a ‘non-profit’.
Both the Conservatives in Westminster and the Labour-Plaid Cymru coalition in Cardiff Bay have the power to stop this atrocious practice, but are continuing to let water companies get away with it.
The Welsh Liberal Democrats want to:
- Ban bonuses for water company bosses and redirect funds into improving infrastructure.
- Demand the Welsh Government provides Natural Resources Wales with the funding and resources it needs to tackle & monitor pollution effectively.
- Install more phosphate removal facilities across our rivers.
- Introduce legislation to ban water companies from dumping raw sewage in our waterways.
Sign our petition below to demand Welsh Labour in the Senedd and the Conservatives Westminster take action now to save our Welsh Waters and introduce legislation to stop sewage being dumped into our rivers, lakes and seas!
